My full name is Charles Michael Chastain Jr but most folks call me
Chuck. I am 34 years young and was born in Charleston South Carolina,
a place I love and feel had a strong influence on who I have become. I enjoy
the slow laid back nature of southerners and the hospitality they
show others.
I met my wife Merecedes while she was pursuing a degree in
art managment at the College of Charleston. She is originally from
Kansas City Missouri where she spent most of her time dancing in the
theatre.
We were married on May 15th 2004 and quickly got started on
our family with the addition of Kai Michael on July 14th 2005. He is an
amazing little man and as you parents know, a life changing addition to
the family. We immediately knew that we wanted to slow life down and
spend more time as a family than our schedules would allow. We
decided that Costa Rica would offer a less expensive but very nice
lifestyle in a warm tropical paradise.
The journey begins...
We bought
land in San Josecito Costa Rica and
found out soon after that we were pregnant with our 2nd child Clara Linn. This was a curve ball that we hit out of the park. We originally thought
we should stay in the States to have her but after some investigation
we found that there are great and very inexpensive options in Costa
Rica. One of the best choices we have made was to have Clara
here in Costa Rica. Not only did it only cost $1400 for everything including
office visits and delivery, now she has dual citizenship and we have
an easier path to residency.
We sold our Folly Beach home and the majority of our business, and headed out on a new adventure.
We rented a Tico house in Escalares for nearly 2 years while we built
our hideaway up in the mountains on San Josecito. We loved our rustic
and very open tico style home but love love love our new home built to
American standards with all the luxuries that we were used to in the
States. We have been in for 6 months, We have private natural pools and waterfalls, our banana trees are already producing and we don't see a reason to
ever leave.
